<intro>
Since Kurt Warner has officially retired from football on Friday, the question will arise as the whether he should be in the pro football Hall of Fame.

I am sure that this question will be debated all over America by ESPN, Sports radio, newspapers, and message boards across the sporting world.

In 12 seasons in the NFL, Warner finished his career with 2,666 completions in 4,070 attempts for 208 touchdowns and 128 interceptions. His .655 passing percentage is one of the best in NFL history. His 93.7 passer rating is the third best in the history of the game and his 102.8 passer rating in the playoffs and Super Bowl is second only to the Packers Bart Starr, whose rating was 104.8.

Warner, went from grocery store stock boy to Arena League player to, to NFL Europe, to Super Bowl MVP. He set NFL on fire and has a story that movie executives will be drooling over.

"I don't know if anybody's ever played the game who could see things as quick as he could see things, and react with the ball as quickly as he can”, former Warner coach Mike Martz said. “He redefined, to me, how quarterbacks can handle blitzes."

According to former coach Dick Vermeil, Warner had two key assets that separated him from most every other quarterback.

"Number one, his accuracy," Vermeil said. "If you're not accurate, you're never a superstar. So he had to have instinctive accuracy. Number two, unbelievable poise under pressure. Almost the bigger the moment, the bigger the game he played."

Current pro Football Hall of Fame quarterbacks have already put their two cents in on to whether Warner should be in the hall of fame.

“I believe a player is a Hall of Fame player if you can’t tell the story of the history of the game without mentioning that player,” said Cowboys great Troy Aikman. “In my opinion, no account of the NFL can be accurately given without discussing Kurt Warner’s impact on the game.”

“I think he deserves it. I don’t know if I’ve seen a more accurate passer, and he generally didn’t make too many mistakes,” said Chiefs great Len Dawson. “The tag on him was he never got the opportunity. He was playing Arena Football and stuff like that. But once he got the opportunity, he took full advantage of it.”

“I think he’s deserving. To be a great quarterback, you have to understand the game, make adjustments by the second, by the minute, by the game,” said Vikings great Fran Tarkenton. “You have to take over the running of the game. And Kurt Warner has been able to do that.”

You look at what Warner has accomplished in the NFL, his statistics, and his records, and the answer to the question has to be an unequivocal YES! Kurt Warner belongs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Now the only question that should be asked is; which team should he represent, the St. Louis Rams or the Arizona Cardinals?

</intro>

    <intro>
After 12 years in the NFL, Kurt Warner, the 38-year-old quarterback, has announced that his NFL football career is over and that he will retire on Friday. He walked away with a year left on a two-year, $23 million contract, with the knowledge that he still had the ability to play the game at a high level.

It is the end of one of the greatest storybook careers in the history of the NFL. A movie is sure to follow. Warner leaves the game with a legacy that could possibly lead to the Hall of Fame. And all of this even though he did not start his first NFL game until he was 28 years old.

Warner’s rise from stock boy seems the stuff of legend and sports fiction. He grew up in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and played his college ball at Northern Iowa.

He played three seasons in the Arena Football League and one season in NFL Europe, and worked as a stock boy in a grocery store in Iowa during the off seasons.

Warner then made the Rams as a backup quarterback to Tent Green in 1998. When Green went down with an injury in 1999, Warner was forced into the starting role.

What followed was a transcendental outcome that sounds like a fairy tail. He led the Rams to a 13-3 regular-season record and a Super Bowl victory over the Tennessee Titans, and he was named the NFL and Super Bowl MVP.

The following season, Warner again led the Rams to the playoffs, where they were upset in the first round. However, in 2001, Warner once again had the Rams in the Super Bowl and earned the team the nickname “The Greatest Show on Turf”. In that Super Bowl, they lost a squeaker to the Patriots, but once again Warner was named the NFL MVP for the season.

The following season in 2002, Warner suffered numerous injuries and after being sacked six times and suffering a concussion in the 2003 season-opening loss to the Giants, he never started another game for the Rams.

In 2004, Warner signed a free agent contract with the Giants, but after nine uneventful games, he was replaced by rookie Eli Manning.

In 2005, Warner signed with the Cardinals, and he was a part time starter before replacing the injured Matt Leinart for good during the 2007 season.

In 2008, and being written off a has-been, Warner had to beat out Leinart during training camp as the starter and then led the Cardinals to the NFC West divisional title and playoff victories over Atlanta, Carolina and Philadelphia before the last minute loss to the Steelers in last year’s Super Bowl. Warner threw for 377 yards in that game, which has been considered one of the most exciting Super Bowls ever.

This season, he once again led the Cardinals to the Divisional crown and the playoffs and had one of the greatest postseason performances ever in Arizona’s 51-45 overtime wild card victory over the Packers on Jan. 10, but took a vicious hit during the Cardinals’ 45-14 divisional round loss to the Saints in New Orleans a week later.

In a comparison with the 14 quarterbacks to make the Hall of Fame in the last 25 years, Warner has a better career completion percentage, yards per pass attempt and yards per game. Only Dan Marino had more career 300-yard passing games in his career then Warner did. He also tied Marino as fastest to reach 30,000 yards and he was the fastest player in NFL history to reach 10,000 passing yards.

In 124 regular-season games in the NFL, Warner completed 65.5 percent of his passes for 32,344 yards and 208 touchdowns. Only Warner and Hall of Fame QB Fran Tarkenton are NFL quarterbacks to throw for 100 touchdowns and 14,000 yards for two teams.

Warner has the top three passing performances in Super Bowl history. His 1,156 passing yards during the 2008 playoffs broke his own NFL record of 1,063 passing yards that he set with the Rams 1999.

    <intro>
Kurt Warner has a press conference for Friday.

The Cardinals confirm he has scheduled it at 1PM MST. This could be confusing for those of us who deal with actual time zones, like Atlantic, Central, or even Pacific. Regardless of the time, the important thing is that the press conference exists.

Now it is possible that Warner could call a press conference to announce nothing. As in "yes, I am coming back next year". Not likely. Also a chance he could "Favre" it. Also not likely. So it seems that Warner will probably retire from the Cardinals.

This is bad news for the Cardinals, and also bad news for the league. Warner won a Superbowl with the St. Louis Rams over the Titans. They called themselves "the greatest show on turf", but lost to the Patriots. Still it was impressive, because, after all, this was the Rams. Sure, they had been to the big game in LA, once. But overall, this was a franchise that never knew any success, going from Cleveland, to LA, and St. Louis. With the Arizona Cardinals, Warner also led the team to the promised land. Another franchise that moved around without a home, Warner brought them to their first Superbowl and moments away from winning against the Steelers. Warner is 1-2 in the Superbowl, but all three games were three of the best finishes of all the Superbowls.

Warner is also a great story, having come from the Arena league and the Iowa Barnstormers. He also worked ordinary jobs in overcoming different adversities. Never known to be part of any negative controversy, he appears to be a player with great character. He will be missed.
</intro>

    <intro>
Arizona Cardinals starting free safety Antrel Rolle has been selected to represent the Cardinals and the NFC in the Pro Bowl.

Rolle, originally an alternate, was picked to replace Darren Sharper, who will play in the Super Bowl with the Saints the following week. The Pro Bowl will be held on Sunday, Jan. 31 in Miami at Sun Life Stadium.

It was a great season for Cardinals defensive backs, as Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie was selected as a reserve cornerback for the Pro Bowl and Adrian Wilson is the starting strong safety for the NFC. Wilson will miss the game, though, to be with his wife for the birth of their child.

Rolle, a 1st-round draft pick (8th overall) out of Miami in 2006, had 4 interceptions, 1.5 sacks and 72 total tackles while starting all 15 games he played in this season for Arizona.
</intro>

“Judging from conversations that I've had with him I think he understands that he's had a great, Hall of Fame career. I think football has taken its course. But he's the best teammate I've ever had. He's been a leader on and off the field.” -excerpt from Rolle's January 26th blog

Warner, 38, is coming off one of his best seasons ever but has dealt with numerous concussion issues. Since the Cardinals' 45-14 loss in the Divisional round to the Saints, many have speculated about Warner's future.

In 12 seasons Warner put up arguably Hall of Fame numbers despite beginning his career later than most. The former Arena League quarterback and Iowa grocery-bagger burst onto the scene in 1999 when Rams quarterback Trent Green suffered a season-ending knee injury in the preseason. Warner went on to throw for 4,353 yards and 41 touchdowns on his way to NFL MVP honors.

The Rams defeated the Tennessee Titans 23-16 in what is widely regarded to be one of the greatest Super Bowls ever. Rams linebacker Mike Jones stopped Titans wide receiver Kevin Dyson one yard short of a game-tying score as time expired in Super Bowl XXXIV. Warner, who threw for 414 yards and two touchdowns in the game, was named MVP.

Warner was voted NFL MVP again in 2001 when he threw for 4,830 yards and 36 touchdowns. The heavily-favored Rams fell to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XXXVI, which began the Patriots' dynasty of the 2000s.

After a brief stint with the New York Giants, Warner joined the Cardinals in 2005. After two forgettable seasons, Warner went through a career renaissance beginning in 2007. He lead an up and coming Cardinals team and guided them to the playoffs two straight years in 2008 and 2009. The Cardinals rode an offensive hot streak all the way to Super Bowl XLIII where they fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers in yet another great Super Bowl finish.

Kurt Warner career stats:

-32,344 passing yards (26th all-time)
-208 touchdown passes (26th all-time)
-93.7 passer rating (6th all-time)
-65.5% completion percentage (2nd all-time)

Only Peyton Manning (4) and Brett Favre (3) have won more MVPs than Warner.
<intro>
I wish I could say for sure what went wrong against the Saints, but I was only in for one series before I got hurt. I hit my head on Reggie Bush's knee and didn't return to the game. We had a lot of guys hurt going into the game, so I think it would have turned out different had we been 100 percent healthy. It's hard to overcome injuries to key players and we played like 16 weeks in a row because of our early bye.

Obviously we wish we had a chance to keep playing, but looking back this season has to be considered a success. We had one of the best years this franchise has had since the ’70s and I don't think it's ever had back-to-back years like this before. Getting to the playoffs and winning a game is a successful season, even though we fell short of our ultimate goal.

Next year could be real different depending on what happens this offseason. Because of concussion concerns a lot of people think that Kurt might not come back even though he's playing as well as ever. If he doesn't come back it would be real strange around here. He's a great guy, but he has to make a decision that's best for him and his family.

Judging from conversations that I've had with him I think he understands that he's had a great, Hall of Fame career. I think football has taken its course. But he's the best teammate I've ever had. He's been a leader on and off the field.

Now that the Saints are in the Super Bowl I will be hanging around Miami to play in the Pro Bowl next week. I was an alternate to begin with, but now that Darren Sharper is in the Super Bowl I'm a Pro Bowler. After that I think I'll just want to kick back and relax. I have a contract situation taking place which hopefully will resolve itself quickly.

I kind of like having the Pro Bowl after the Super Bowl, but we'll see how it goes this year with the change. It's great to be a part of it regardless.

    <intro>
I have never been part of a game like that before as far as the ups and downs. Everything was going right in the first half and we could do no wrong, but everything that was going right completely switched to the Packers in the second half. We knew that they were going to give it everything they had to come back so it definitely wasn't a case of us letting up or anything like that. They have a very dangerous offense that is never out of any game.

I've never seen two quarterbacks play as well as Kurt and Aaron Rodgers in the same game either. Not in real life, anyway. I've seen it in video games plenty of times, but that was something else on Sunday. It seemed like every throw they made was perfect and the receivers were making plays.

After we won in overtime the mood in the locker room was one of massive relief. The satisfaction was almost overwhelming that we were able to come out on top after Green Bay's big comeback. Some people think that whoever wins the coin toss wins the game in OT, but we knew different. We didn't have a doubt that we could stop them and because of Karlos Dansby we were able to do that. He started and finished the game with huge plays and he definitely deserves a game ball for what he did for the team. He was just outstanding.

I had a shot at an interception in the game, unfortunately Adrian Wilson had a shot at the same ball. We didn't see each other and he hit me pretty good. It rung my bell a little bit and I'm still a little sore. We laughed about it in the locker room but man he got me.

Now we have to get ready for the rested Saints. We go from one loaded offense to another. The Saints' personnel is a little different from Green Bay's, but they're just as successful. Drew Brees is one of the two or three best quarterbacks in the league and with weapons like he has it's a really dangerous situation. But that's what the playoffs are about. We have to find a way to carry momentum from our win last week.

We feel like we have a great chance this week so now we have to go out on the road and do it.

    <intro>
No disrespect intended, Mr. Brees.

That’s the message from Arizona Cardinals defensive back Antrel Rolle, after Rolle said he was misquoted by a reporter disrespecting Drew Brees, the New Orleans Saints quarterback.

“I don’t call any player out,” Rolle said. “I’m a professional in this league.”

Rolle is in his fifth year in the NFL and was selected as a first alternate to the Pro Bowl for the NFC as a free safety this season.

Rolle’s comments were reported by Yahoo! Sports after Rolle and the Cardinals beat the Green Bay Packers, 51-45, in the highest scoring playoff game in NFL history. The Cardinals face the top-seeded Saints on Saturday in the Superdome, with the winner going to the NFC Championship Game.

Yahoo! Sports quoted Rolle as saying, “I'll face Drew Brees any day of the week before I face [Rodgers] again” after Aaron Rodgers threw for a Green Bay playoff-record 422 yards and four touchdowns in the Cardinals’ overtime victory in the first-round NFC playoff game.

Rolle said he was having a conversation with teammate Adrian Wilson when his comments were overheard.

“Drew Brees has earned his right as one of the most outstanding quarterbacks in this league. His play on the field speaks for itself,” Rolle said. “But it is what it is. If they want to go use that as ammunition, something that I didn't say, then let it be done. I don't back down from anyone. I'm not scared of anyone. The game still has to be played on Saturday, and I'm coming there to play ball, bottom line.

“[The reporter] threw Drew Brees' name out there as I was walking out of the locker room, and I'm like, 'I'm not talking about Drew Brees right now.' After a game like that, who is going to be thinking about Drew Brees?

“I mean, the guy who just ripped us was Aaron Rodgers. That's who I was talking about. That's who I was giving praise to.”

Rolle spent his first three years at cornerback before moving to free safety in 2008. He has 13 career interceptions, four this season.

“My image means a lot to me,” Rolle said. “I don't do things like that. That's disrespecting another player, someone who has put in more time in the league that I have. Who am I to go and call him out?”
<intro>
Sometimes more IS better...

I am a longtime Kurt Warner AND Cardinals fan who has lived most of his life either in St. Louis or in the area and yesterday's game was just a wonderfully emotional experience for me.

Two factors always enter my mind whenever I watch the Cardinals; Bill Bidwill is a jerk, and Kurt Warner is definitely exciting although sometimes inconsistent.

The former will never change and I could be an even more ardent fan of the Cardinals if Bill Bidwill was not the owner. That's the end of that story.

From the start of his fulltime QB play with the Rams, Kurt Warner has never failed to excite me, either with his exceptionally superior play, or negatively when he's obviously faking that he's feeling fine when either his head (concussions) or his thumb are actually causing him to say words like "heck" and "darn". Yes his Bible-thumping gets on my nerves, but then who's perfect?

Kurt was thrown into the fire with the Rams when Trent Green was badly injured in the final game of the preseason in 1999. I cried with Dick Vermeil when he announced that the Rams would go on with Kurt and do their best. They did. They won the frickin' Super Bowl!

The media was right on the money when they dubbed that team "The Greatest Show On Turf" with an offense that surely made opposing defenses shudder when faced with plans to attempt to stop them.. But the key was Kurt Warner's ability to throw perfectly-timed, accurate passes to outstanding receivers like Torry Holt and Isaac Bruce...and then they had a RB by the name of Marshall Faulk who helped the cause tremendously.

It was painful to see Kurt go to the Giants and be treated like a washed-up fluke of a QB when we all know he was far from that. He took some time to heal both physically and mentally but when he got to Arizona I'm sure he could see the light at the end of the tunnel again.

The fact that Bidwill and his cronies chose to push Leinart into the starting QB role didn't surprise me one bit. He infamous for attempting to save money, in spite of the worth of his better players. But when Kurt stepped up and proved that he could still accomplish his magical quick-release passes thrown to outstanding receivers (Larry and Anquoin) the stage was set.

Last year's Super Bowl was almost as exciting as the '99 win with the Rams except of course for the end result. As Yogi Berra said, "It was dejavu all over again" right up to the end and the winning TD by Pittsburgh. Kurt was just simply HOF fantastic and so was his team.

Yesterday I saw the fire in Kurt's eyes again and I still get a kick out of him getting angry because I happen to know that he NEVER uses profanity. It would be like watching an episode of "The Sopranos" on A&E with the bleeps. We all know what Tony really says, just as we all know what Kurt really means when he uses euphemisms instead of actual profanity. Maybe he's ahead of the game in that area, but for myself, a good "cussing out" seems to pack a harder punch especially on a football field.

I have my old Cardinals necktie ready to wear for the NFC Championship and The Super Bowl again this year...and this time I am sure that it will finally give the Cardinals that Super Bowl Champion ring that they all crave so badly. Hey it is an attainable dream, and I can feel it in my bones....which are a bit wracked up from old football injuries.

Bill, If your team wins, please don't do what you did in St. Louis and turn away the excellent players under the pretense that you have decided to rebuild. You are a cheap selfish money-grabbing greedy person that needs to redeem himself before the final score is published.

Kurt Warner deserves to be in The NFL Hall Of Fame and deserves to retire in a blaze of glory...and I'll be right there cheering him on and happy that he was once a St. Louis football player now a member of our former team who I will never let go from my grasp. A true fan is a fan forever.
</intro>

    <intro>
It's crazy to play the Packers two weeks in a row and even though the last game didn't end up meaning much, it was still a loss. This game was set before we even kicked off so a lot of our starters didn't play much.

You play the whole year to get that first round bye, but playing in Wild Card weekend is what you make it. I have been fortunate enough to be in both situations and that extra rest is great to heal up and get ready, but if you win your game the opening week it can be a big momentum boost. That's what the Cardinals did last year. They played a really good Falcons team and that win propelled them to the Super Bowl.

The Packers have an outstanding offense led by Aaron Rodgers. Their wide receivers are exceptional athletes and can go up and get the ball as good as anyone. Rodgers has been great all year and he can make things hard for a secondary. You can't just focus on the pass though because they have a guy in Ryan Grant who ran for 1200 yards.

In practice we worked on fundamentals just like always because there are always things you want to tune up. But the main emphasis this week has been on Green Bay.

I'm looking forward to playing a home playoff game in front of our fans. I expect it to be an outstanding atmosphere. Packer fans travel well, so it will be up to our fans to drown them out and try to make life uncomfortable for the team on the field. We always have a great crowd and I'm betting they'll be hostile come game time.

    <intro>
It's pretty crazy that nothing has been solidified yet in the NFC. The door is open for us to get #2, but it's out of our hands. That would be a big achievement for us and it will take a lot of effort on our part to beat a really good Green Bay team on Sunday. I don't know the schedules, but we might be the last ones to play so we might know what's up before we even go.

Because of a weird scheduling deal we could play Green Bay two weeks in a row and that would be pretty awkward. We have no choice but to try and play well both times if it comes to that. There's no chance of us becoming complacent because we know that there's a lot of stuff that needs to improve if we're to be successful in the playoffs. We will be playing top notch talent and we can't afford to be sloppy in our fundamentals and technique. Only really good teams make the playoffs, so you can't make mistakes.

The Packers have an explosive offense led by Aaron Rodgers and he is playing with a lot of confidence right now. He can execute and make all the throws and has a really strong arm. He's doing a great job throwing the ball and his receivers are really stepping up to make big catches. They have their offense at the top of its game and we have to match that regardless if we play them once or twice.

    <intro>
We went into the game against the 49ers ready for Gore to get more touches than he had been getting lately, but when the game started he was able to have some success and put together a pretty good game. We had miscues with our assignments which allowed him to turn five yard gains into 20-30 yard gains. With a guy that good you cannot get away with being out of place.

It's been a crazy three week stretch. We lost the late game to Tennessee, then played great against Minnesota and then got beat pretty good by the Niners. It's been up and down lately, but at least there aren't any glaring issues that we need to address. It's just those little things that add up if you're not careful.

We face the Lions this week and they suffered a pretty big loss last week too. They got beat 48-3 by the Ravens, so both teams are going to be looking to redeem themselves.

One thing that is certain in the NFL is that you can't dwell on records or history to dictate the next game. Motivation is not a problem for us because we're more mad than anyone else with how we played last week.

It's important to play well at the end of the season because if we do get into the playoffs we want to be on a win streak. Limping into the playoffs isn't where you want to be as a team. Our focus and goal right now is on the Lions and nothing else.

    <intro>
It was a collective defensive effort that allowed us to keep Adrian Peterson in check in our win against the Vikings. All 11 guys played their assignments well and the coaches drew up a great game plan for us. Our offense got going early and kept on going all game. We've had key guys banged up all year, so to see the offense clicking as a complete unit is unbelievable. To have Kurt and Anquan healthy and connecting just shows how much harder they make the game for an opposing defense.

With our passing game in top form it’s a dangerous group of guys. You can't just focus in on one guy and try to stop him. If you double team Larry all day then Anquan will hurt you. Then there's Steve Breaston who I think would be a #1 receiver on a lot of teams.

Our goal coming into the season was to win the division and we have a chance to wrap it up this week against the Niners on Monday night. We know that their offense is more complete than it was back in week 1, so we will have to make sure we are ready for whatever it is they're going to do. It seems like we played them forever ago so we need to become familiar with their new style.

I am new to this rivalry this year so I don't really know how it started or anything like that, but people told me before the first game that I needed to be ready for a physical game and that's what we got. I know they're not too fond of us and I expect the same type of game come Monday.

    <intro>
We've played two games since my last blog. One was a tough loss at the end and one was a big win. Against the Titans Vince Young came up big. He showed why he was the #3 pick in the draft. He has had his ups and downs but he looks like he's developing into a really good quarterback. I was about a foot away from picking off three different passes on the last drive which was really frustrating.

In our win against the Vikings we were able to hold Adrian Peterson to 19 yards rushing. That's huge because I think he's the best back in the game. Our defensive line did a great job beating their O-line all game and allowed us to make tackles.

We had Kurt back last game and he picked apart the Vikings' secondary all game long. With Anquan back at full strength we have the best 1-2 receiver tandem in the league. I call Anquan a beast among men because he has that mindset that he can't be stopped. Together with Larry and Steve Breaston we have a dynamic receiving corps.

In week 1 we lost a game to the 49ers that we feel we should have won, so it will be important to go into SF and take this one. They lost a tough game last week, but they are not a team that is gonna lay down for us. It will be a fight like it always is against them. The fact that it's a Monday night game adds a little flavor because you know everybody is watching you, but we have to treat it like just another game.

    <intro>
With Kurt getting banged up in our game against the Rams last week it was really beneficial for us to get out to a decent lead early on. It makes the job of the defense a lot easier, but at the same time we know that we're gonna get their offense's best shot and that they're going to do all that they can to get back into it.

The biggest thing for us right now is to not get complacent with our recent success. We're 6-1 over our last seven games, but no one is looking ahead. Our focus right now is on the Titans, who are a completely different team than the one that started 0-6. They went 13-3 last year and you don't just become bad overnight. I think they have come together and found a way to win games as a team. I expect them to give us their best game and I know it's not gonna be easy to go in there and get a win.

We know we have to try to slow down Chris Johnson. If he's not the best back in the league right now then he's way up there near the top. He's just outstanding. He plays really mature despite the fact that it's just his second year in the league. I don't know him too well personally, but he seems like he's real humble and goes about things the right way. He's carrying that team on his back right now and it's up to us to run to the ball and take good angles when he has it. You can never assume he's down because he's real shifty and you won't catch him from behind.

The defense will have to try to force Vince Young to beat us throwing the ball. That's not to say that he can't, but we have to make sure Johnson doesn't go wherever he wants all day. We need to keep making plays when the opportunities present themselves and we should continue to be successful.

As far as Thanksgiving goes it will be a quiet one for me here in Arizona. My family comes to all my games from Miami so for them to go to Arizona then Tennessee from there it would just be too much travel.

<intro>
We played a great game against the Bears last week. The offense put us up early which made our job as a defense easier. They showed some fight late, but we were able to hold them off for the big win. We held down another really good running back and our run D has been really good as of late. All 11 guys will be called on eventually to help with run defense and everybody is making it a priority to do it well.

We're pretty happy with where we are at 5-3, but we know we could be in even better shape had we played better early. But the important thing is that we're getting better every week and that's what needs to continue happening if we are going to head into the playoffs again.

The four wins in a row have put us in the driver's seat in our division and it feels great that we've put ourselves in that position. Hands down that is the most important thing right now. But with that said we will not be satisfied until after our 16th game and we're headed to the playoffs.

The first thing we need to do in order to take this thing to the postseason is to improve our play at home. We have one of the best crowds in football and we need to play better in front of them. We just need to cut out the unnecessary mistakes that we've been making. It has come down to us killing ourselves in our three home losses this year. We can never play a perfect game, but we need to be much more on the plus side than the negative side.
<intro>
We knew going into the game with the Bears that they were gonna throw the ball a lot, but our offense made it so they had pretty much no choice. We were up 34-7 at the half so we knew what they had to do in the second half.

The offense was huge for us in the game with Kurt throwing 5 touchdowns to four different guys, but we still need to find a way to become more consistent on both sides of the ball. We're just not clicking with any consistency yet. Hopefully we can get Anquan back this week and he can help get us rolling towards that consistency.

Hightower and Wells are really starting to jell and run tough for us. The more opportunities they get the more efficient they are becoming. They're both young guys so they make each other better.

We're 1-3 at home so far this year and there is no excuse for that. It's just how the cards have been dealt so far. We know that we can't continue to lose games at home, so we just have to try and get to 5-3 starting with the Seahawks at home on Sunday.

They are always a tough matchup and obviously it's a big game because it's in our division. We need to get ready to play physical and try to dominate them on both offense and defense.

I'm gonna watch the 49ers game tonight so I can get a live action look at them before our second game against them. When I watch football I don't watch as a fan, I watch it like I'm breaking down film. You never know who you're gonna face in this league, so the more looks you can get at a team's tendencies the better.

We know we have to win at home, but we just need to win period so we can get to the playoffs and take it from there.

    <intro>
We had a lot of trouble with Carolina's great running back duo last week. DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart hit us pretty hard. They are both pretty similar in size and stature and they can both do serious damage if you allow them to.

They were able to take the game over in the second quarter where they outscored us 21-0 going into the half. We made mistakes and they made big plays. You can't afford to make mistakes against a team with as many weapons as the Panthers have.

We got the Bears next and in a lot of ways they are similar to the Panthers. They have a good QB, great running back and some dangerous receivers. We just have to go out and execute like we can and we'll be alright.

It's probably gonna be cold in Chicago during the game, but that doesn't really bother me. I played in Pittsburgh for years so I'm used to the cold. We had a “no sleeve” rule in Pittsburgh so I think I'll be alright out there. But still, any time you spend outside in that type of cold is tough.

    <intro>
It feels great to win our third game in a row after starting out 1-2 on the season. Our bye week came right before our win streak but I don't think it has much to do with that. It was a time to gather ourselves and rest a little bit for anyone who was banged up, but I think it just comes down to improved play on both sides of the ball.

Guys are really understanding all the concepts on defense and we have a lot of confidence that we can go out there and win every Sunday. Our coaches have a lot of confidence in us and they expect us to win. That makes us feel like we need to expect ourselves to win too. The defense has been doing a good job of flying to the ball the last three games and the offense has helped us out by putting together long drives to score points and keep us off the field.

It felt great to put a stamp on the game with my interception last in the fourth quarter. We were very nicked up on defense in that game and I think we're down four guys right now on D. We came together to make it work and it was amazing to make the play that pretty much ended the game. The Giants couldn't do anything to change the momentum after that.

The win in New York was huge because it shows people that just because past Cardinals teams weren't great playing back East, this is the 2009 Cardinals. Teams know that when we come to their place that we are going to be a tough opponent and that we can win anywhere.

We got the Panthers this Sunday and despite their 2-4 record I think they're still a great team. I don't think the record indicates just how dangerous they really are. We are going to have to stop their great running game behind DeAngelo Williams and Jonathan Stewart, plus they have weapons at receiver like Steve Smith. If we can stop those guys we will have the game in our hands.

I'm happy that we're playing well and on a win streak because I don't want to have to rely on another late season charge like last year. We're in a better place right now than we were three weeks ago, but we know that come Sunday it's time to play ball. Nobody is going to let us have anything.

    <intro>
I can't tell you how much better it is to be 3-2 rather than 1-2. It's a winning record and that's always what you want. Everybody is playing at a real high level for us right now. Going into the bye at 1-2 I thought we were pretty close to getting it together and we have gotten a lot better in the last two weeks.

We held a pretty good Seahawks offense to 128 total yards last week and it was a collective effort defensively that allowed us to do that. We didn't allow them to get into a rhythm. We sent pressure all day and stayed in Hasselbeck's face and didn't give him time to find his receivers.

We don't know if we're gonna have Anquan for this week's game against the Giants, but if he doesn't play someone else is gonna have to step up. That's just how it goes. Whether it's one guy or a group effort, we know we have the players capable of stepping up and playing well in his absence. If Anquan isn't there it won't be the same obviously, but we see what the other guys can do in practice all the time.

It's always a plus to have guys like Kurt, Larry and Anquan on our team because they are the guys who always get it done for us and allow the defense to stay off the field. Hopefully they can make the kinds of plays that the Saints did last week against the Giants.

Every week is a new challenge, but this could be a real good indicator of where we are as a team. Since we play the Seahawks twice a year we kinda knew what to expect from them. With the Giants this is probably the only time we will face them, so it's a different kind of challenge in preparing for them and finding out their tendencies. It would look real good to be 4-2 after starting out 1-2, for sure.
